This fabulous moving parade of lights and sound provides that extra special bit of sparkle to Scarborough’s promenade.  It’s rare to see such a concentration of these magnificent touring motorcycles, but you can in Scarborough on Saturday 8th September 2012 where around 250 GoldWings will be descending upon the town for the fifth annual GoldWing Light Parade, staged in aid of the RNLI Scarborough Lifeboats.

The harbour side’s West Pier Car Park will be the gathering point for GoldWing trikes.  They are on display here as they are too wide to park up in Foreshore Road.  With prime examples costing upwards of £32,000 and more ... these GoldWing trikes are definitely the family favourites.

Visitors are likely see examples of the Honda GoldWing models, ranging from the early GL1000 up to the current six cylinder GL1800, however the GL1500’s and Gl1800’s are the predominant bikes in the evening parade.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Scarborough, Councillor John Blackburn and Mrs. Jackie Blackburn joined in the fun of the 2011 GoldWing Light Parade when they travelled as passengers on the evening parade’s two leading trikes. To see the Mayor’s welcome to Scarborough for this super event, click here

The Mayor was chauffeured by Yorkshire Winger John Herrington of Scarborough and the Mayoress was whisked along by Sue Wilkinson of White Horse Wings

Next year Border Winger Christine Adams, of  South Tyneside, will be leading the parade and carrying our civic leader. Chris is a staunch supporter of the GoldWings Light Parade and she has chauffeured our civic dignitaries and VIP’s for the past four years
