Our Supporters and Sponsors

The 2008 Scarborough Light Parade and Static Display generated an impressive £2198.57 for the RNLI Scarborough Lifeboats in under 12 hours. Sponsors of the event enabled us to achieve this remarkable sum of money and we are truly grateful for their support.

As with all events, sponsors often come forward late in the year, so we hope the 2009 list of sponsors below, will grow as we get nearer to the event.

We have already received pledges of support for the 2009 Scarborough Light Parade and below are those who are helping us with their sponsorship so far this year.

Management of Cayton Bay Holiday Park have donated a Free Weekend Break in a Gold Caravan Prize to be taken in 2010.  A great prize and we are delighted with the offer.  There is also the possibility that the complex manager may contribute a suitable prize for the event.

Alan Mason, of Storm Embroidery, has announced he will donate one hundred 2009 Scarborough Light Parade Patches. Once again that’s a magnificent offer of support and we are delighted with his donation.  The new 2009 patch is shown in the side panel of this page.

The Scarborough Lifeboat Station Supporters’ Group provided a team of their members from 9.00am to 10.00pm to assist us with everything we needed, including collecting buckets, toilet facilities, moving the lifeboats and keeping the station ready for an emergency. They also provided, from their own pockets … free tea and coffee for our volunteers, all day, and on our behalf, they stuck around late into the evening collecting from the crowds that came to watch the light parade.

The group’s honorary secretary Brenda Horton, quartermaster Eric Horton, treasurer Sheila Fountain, chairman Jilly Swales, assistant secretary Terry Swales, press officer Rob Pickerill, with members Tom Fox, Colin Lyons, Kathryn Duck, Gary Smith and associate member Neil Heritage stayed until 10.00pm clearing up and counting all the 35 collection buckets we used throughout the day.

Finally thanks to our own Yorkshire GoldWings members, who as usual gave their superb support, manning inscription, marshalling, selling raffle tickets and regalia and of course showing their GoldWings during the day and night. If anyone knows of anyone we have missed, then please e-mail Jean Sharman our Webmaster.
